Identification
Very large pitviper growing to 150 cm in length. Large triangular head with flattened nose. Scales edges look very rough and sharp. Coloration green with black edges on each scales. Transversal black bands on back and postocular stripe.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia, in extreme south Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and islands off Sumatra (including Mentawai islands). Mostly found in thick rainforests, in lowlands and submontane areas, up to 800 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is still relatively common within its range but it could be declining because of habitat loss, leading it to become threatened in a near future.
