Identification
Adults can grow to 2.20 meters in length for a weight over 2 kilos. Unmistakable. Very large triangular head. Coloration is bright grassy-green with dark and light brown mottling and barring over head and flanks. Adults are duller.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern Asia and is endemic to the Mangshan National Park in southern-central China. Lives in subtropical evergreen broadleaf and pine forests, from 700 to 1300 m.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is highly endangered as it has a very small range and has already been heavily collected for the international trade. Legally protected.
