Identification
Adults can reach a length of 1 m, generally less. Very wide triangular head. Coloration is beige to grey with darker blotches, edged with black and whiten turning into transversal bands towards tail, on back.
Range and habitat
The species is found in North America and occurs only in south-west USA, from South-West Nevada to East-central California. Lives in open woodlands and scrubland in arid to semi-desertic areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN (as C. mitchellii)
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is probably still fairly common where its habitat isn’t disturbed but it might be threatened by over-collection and habitat loss
