Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 66 cm. Fairly small rattlesnake with elongated head. Coloration is brown to dark grey with a double row of dark blotches starting at back of head and running all over back.

Range and habitat
The species is found from Southern Arizona to northern Mexico. This subspecies is endemic to eastern Sierra Madre. Lives in rocky areas in open forests and grasslands, from 1200 to 4000 meters.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species occurs as several populations which live in hardly accessible range. It remains locally common and isn’t threatened so far.
