Identification
Adults can reach a length of 80 cm, generally less. Head is fairly long and not so distinct from neck. black bands. This subspecies’ ground color varies from pinkish-brown to green-grey with transversal dark bands and small blotches.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south-east New Mexico, south-west Texas and north-east Mexico. Species found from Arizona and Texas to coastal central Mexico. Lives in pine-oak forests, rocky areas, grasslands and deserts in montane areas.
