Identification
Adults can reach a length of nearly 91 cm. Fairly stout viper with very long head and upturned nose. Coloration is gray to brown with alternating triangle-shaped markings on back. Brown head with beige band over eye. Pinkish labials.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia, from South Vietnam to Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, mainland Malaysia and Java. Mostly found in forests including coastal forests, old plantations, bamboo thickets.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is potentially threatened by persecution and habitat loss but remains common in many parts of its range so far. Occurs in protected areas.
