Identification
Adults can reach a total length of about 1.60 m. Head deep, broad and triangular in shape. Coloration variable, usually olive-green to brown with clear-edged dark triangle-shaped markings on back and flanks. Dark band from eye to neck.

Range and habitat
This species is found in in South America, from Central Colombia and Venezuela to Bolivia, Guianas and most of the northern half of Brazil. Lives in woodlands, wet forests, savanna and gallery forests, often near water.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a wide range and seems to remain at least fairly common despite persecution and collection for international trade.
