Identification
One of the biggest species of its genus, reaching a length up to 2.5 m. Broad and deep triangular head. Coloration variable, from greenish gray to brown with triangle shaped dark markings on back and upper flanks. Dark upper head.
Range and habitat
This species is found in most of central America, from central and eastern Mexico to Panama, south to Colombia, north Venezuela and east Ecuador. Mostly found in tropical rainforests and forest edges, up to 2600 meters.

Status : The species has a wide range and seems to be locally common despite persecution and habitat loss. Main cause of snakebite in Central America.
