Identification
Slender-bodied viper with prehensile tail, reaching a total length of 95 cm. Broad triangular head. Coloration bright green with turquoise markings sometimes forming a dorsal band on back and flanks. Sometimes entirely turquoise.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in Central America and is mostly found in Honduras. May also occur in Nicaragua and Guatemala but in very small numbers. Lives in rainforests, cloud forests and lower montane wet forests.

Status : The species is going through heavy decline because of habitat destruction and capture for international trade. Range is highly fragmented.
