Identification
This subspecies usually reaches around 2 meters in length. Large triangular head. Coloration is dark brown to black with beige to yellowish-beige transversal lines, often forming networks of blotches and zig-zag bands.
Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to northern Australia. The species occurs in Australia and New Guinea. Lives in dry forests mostly near rivers and running water, rocky outcrops and dry woodlands, mostly in lowland.

Status : This species isn’t considered threatened in the wild. Some populations are declining, mostly because of destruction habitat (overgrazing).
