Identification
The species reaches up to 1.60 meters in length. It has a stocky built for a cobra and a large head. Uniform coloration on back and flanks, light beige-brown to grey brown, clearer whitish-beige on belly. Hood is unmarked on both sides.

Range and habitat
This species is endemic to Philippines and occurs in the north of the Archipelago, on Luzon, Masbate, Marinduque, Mindoro, Catanduanes and Lubang. Lives in lowland forested areas, open fields, pastures, grasslands and villages.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has become a lot rarer these last years because of intense trapping and habitat destruction. It could soon be uplisted to Vulnerable.
