Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 2.50 meters. This subspecies has a variable coloration, usually brownish to golden-beige with dark edges on head scales. Lower flanks, head and belly are often clearer, from dark yellow to nearly pink.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in Africa, in north Africa, from Algeria to Egypt, in western Africa from Senegal to Cameroon, in eastern Africa from Sudan to Tanzania. Lives in steppes, savannas, semi-deserts, dry and moist savannas, near water.
