Identification
Adults can grow to over 2.5 m in length but will be sexually mature at 1.1 m. Large triangular head with blunt upturned snout. Coloration is grey-beige to reddish-beige with dark mottled saddle markings. Dark brown blotches near tail.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central and northern South America, from Mexico to Panama and North Colombia. Lives from tropical rainforests to arid bushy country.

Status : The species has a large range and remains locally numerous. Some island forms might be endangered.
