Identification
It can reach a length of about 1.20 m although most specimens are smaller. Triangular head, thick tail and powerful limbs. Coloration mostly golden-yellow to yellowish-brown with transversal black bands and spots on its body.
Range and habitat
The species occurs from Panama to Peru, Bolivia and most of the northern half of Brazil. Mostly found in tropical forests and woodlands.

Status : This species seems to be fairly common over its wide range.
