Identification
Adults can grow to about 25 cm in length. Back and flanks beige-brown, lower flanks and belly greyish-white. White spots on flanks and sometimes bright orange line going from lip to mid-flanks. Large adults become dull olive-brown.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia from eastern India and Bangladesh to south China, south to Indonesia, New Guinea and Philippines. Lives in forests, woodlands, plantations, urban and suburban gardens, to 1800 m.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a huge range and can adapt well to life near or even in cities. It occurs in protected areas as well and doesn’t seem to be declining.
