Identification
Small chameleon growing to 20 cm in length. Snout is short and round, casque is high and round. Short but thick spines on back crest, long conical spines on gular crest. Coloration variable, ranging from light or dark green to brown.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in central eastern Africa, mostly in Kenya (western highlands) and in Uganda around Mount Elgon. Lives in montane habitats, sometimes above tree limits, in grasses and shrubs.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is quite common, even in disturbed habitats and in cities. It is exported for the trade but is captive bred in Uganda for this purpose.
