Identification
Males reach a total length of 56 cm, females are a lot smaller, reaching 21 cm in length. Prominent round scales on cheeks giving warty look. Coloration variable, greenish to brown with broken longitudinal clear band on flanks.
Range and habitat
This species is endemic to Madagascar and occurs in the southern and western parts of the Island. Mostly found in arid scrubland and grasslands, rarely forests.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species remains common in the wild so far but, if splited into more than one species, could be re-assessed as threatened if population small.
