Identification
This species reaches up to 100 cm in total length. Slender body, completely legless. Eyelids and ear cavities are present. Coloration is dull beige with longitudinal black lines. Cream belly, small clear spots on sides of head and flanks.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in most of the Eastern parts of USA, from Virginia to Florida, west to Texas and Wisconsin. Subspecies found west of Mississippi river. Lives in grasslands and dry to semi-dry open woodlands.
