Identification
The species can reach a total length of about 30 cm. Head triangular with bony crests on snout. Nuchal crest longer than dorsal crest, with thick spined. Female is bright green, male is olive-green to brown with black wavy lines on flanks.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in South East Asia, in South Thailand (Pattani, Trang, Yala) and nearby north Peninsular Malaysia (Pahang area, south to Ipoh). Lives in submontane and montane monsoon evergreen forest, up to 1000 m.

Status : The species seems to remain common in suitable habitat. It could become threatened on the long term by habitat loss and collection for the trade.
