Identification
The biggest spider known by weight and body length with a length up to 11.9 cm, legspan up to 30 cm and weight up to 175 g. Coloration mostly light brown with darker brown hairs on most of abdomen. Legs similar color than body.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, around Guyana, Suriname, French Guyana, south Venezuela and nearby northern Brazil. Lives in upland tropical rainforests, often in swampy areas.

Status : The species’ IUCN status hasn’t been assessed. It is still collected for the trade and as food. Also possibly vulnerable to loss of habitat.
