Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of about 5 cm. Females are much bigger than males. Whole body covered with short hairs giving it a velvety aspect. Coloration usually dark brown to black, sometimes more beige-brown.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt and from Syria to Arabian peninsula and possibly west Iran. Found in arid rocky areas, sometimes in human settlements.

Status : The species was previously assessed as Least Concern but isn’t featured in the most recent IUCN Red List update. Locally common to abundant.
