Identification
Adults can grow to a leg-span of 15 cm. Dark brown cephalothorax with faint radiating lines. Straight horn on carapace. Legs are greyish with black tips. Abdomen mottled grey-brown and black. Chelicerae light grey with black tip.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in southern parts of Africa, around Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Lives in lowland desert and arid savannas with monsoon-type climate.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed but it appears to be quite common. It has been regularly collected and exported for the pet trade.
