Identification
Leg span up to 12 cm, body length 8 cm, smaller for males. Abdomen black with brown hairs, cephalothorax black with reddish hairs on edges. Black legs with red-orange rings on end of leg segments. Light brownish band on chelicerae.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central America, and is endemic to Mexico, being found in the southern part of the Country, in Michoacán, Jalisco and Colima states. Lives in savannas and dry forests, close to rock formations and boulders.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a restricted range and is alarmingly declining because of over-collection for the pet trade, persecution and habitat loss.
