Identification
Leg span up to 15 cm, body length is about 10 cm, smaller for males. Abdomen is nearly black with reddish-brown hairs, cephalothorax is brown. Legs are very hairy and almost entirely bright orange-red with black tips.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central America, and is endemic to Mexico, being found in the southern part of the Country, in Michoacán and Guerrero states. Mostly found in open and semi-arid to arid scrubland.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species’ range is very fragmented and it is more and more endangered because of overcollection for the pet trade and habitat loss.
