Identification
Adults can grow to about 8 cm in length. Tail segments are very broad and flattened with powerful sting. Its global coloration is yellow to yellow-brown with clearer legs. Back is often lightly spotted with dark brown or black. Greyish flanks.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in in southern Europe, from Spain and south France to Turkey and in north Africa. Lives in dry areas with sparse vegetation, dry Mediterranean forests, to 1000 m.

Status : The species has a large range and seems to be common in the wild. Its status has yet to be assessed by IUCN.
