Identification
Adults can grow to 5.5 cm in length with females being twice smaller. Males have very powerful jaws, female has small jaws. Coloration dark beige with dark edges and spot in middle of cephalothorax, two spots near eyes. Reddish legs.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia, from Andaman Islands and Indochina to Philippines and Indonesia. Subspecies found on Borneo. Lives in primary and secondary forests.

Status : The species’ status isn’t assessed so far. Like most forest-dependant species, this beetle is likely to become threatened by loss of habitat.
