Identification
Adults can reach about 6.9 cm in length, males being much bigger than females with longer toothless mandibles. Wide black head and thorax with small yellow edge on back of head. Abdomen is bright orange-brown with thick black edges.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia and is endemic to the island of Borneo, being found mostly around Sabah and Mt Kinabalu area. Lives in primary and secondary rainforests.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species’ status isn’t assessed so far. Like most forest-dependant species, this beetle is likely to become threatened by loss of habitat.
