Identification
One of the largest asian beetle species, reaching a length of 12 cm for males. Females are smaller with a more velvety appearance. Three big horns on thorax and head. Head horn shows a distinct upward pointing spine. Blackish-brown.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in south-east Asia, from Malay peninsula to western Indonesia. Subspecies found in peninsular Malaysia. Lives in forests and woodlands.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species hasn’t been assessed. It has a large range but is often collected for the animal trade. This isn’t believed to be a threat so far.
