Identification
Adults can grow to 7.5 cm in wingspan. Abdomen black with white underside. Wings are black with a row of bright turquoise large spots making a flat triangle or boomerang shape. Underwings similar but with red spots on hindwings.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from from Myanmar and Vietnam to Malaysia and Singapore. Species found from north-east India to Japan, south to Australia. Mostly found in humid forests below 1600 m, also plantations and woodlands.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed. It is very common in most of its range but insular subspecies could be threatened by loss of habitat.
