Identification
The species grows to around 5 cm in wingspan. Strong sexual dimorphism. Male upperside is black and blue, female’s dark brown, both sexes showing bright orange eye-spots near wing edges. Underwing light beige.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Species found from South Africa, Madagascar and Arabia to Indonesia and Australia. Lives mostly in open areas such as grasslands and clearings, urban parks.

Status : The species status hasn’t been assessed yet, the species has a huge range but it seems to be less and less common locally because of habitat loss.
