Identification
Adults grow to a wingspan of 6.2 cm. Upperside is rich orange-brown with dark edges and row of short dark bands on forewings. Three black and white-edged eye-like markings on wings. Underside is grey-beige with eye-like markings.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Peninsular Malaysia and Greater Sundas. The species is found from India and Sri Lanka to south China, south to Indonesia. Lives in dry and wet lowland habitats, woodlands, grasslands, urban gardens.

Status : The species has a large range and remains relatively common. It can tolerate living in man-made habitats and is believed to face no known threats.
