Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan of 9.2 cm. Forewings are greatly elongated and narrow, with round tips. Upperside coloration is bright orange with more or less thick black edges (depending on subspecies). Underside beige.
Range and habitat
The species is found from Florida and southern Texas (northwards during summer) through Central America, south to Bolivia and south Brazil at least. Lives in open areas, woodlands, sometimes above forest canopy, to 1800 m.

Status : The species hasn’t been assessed but it has a huge range and remains globally common, even expanding its range locally (in United States).
