Identification
This species grows to a wingspan of 6 cm. Upperside is brown with conspicuous yellow band on forewing. Underside is cream with a white band and a network of black lines forming a mosaic. Hindwing with orange tip and two blue dots.
Range and habitat
The species is found in Central and South America, from Mexico to Colombia and south to Guyana and northern Brazil. Subspecies found in all the mainland parts of the species’ range. Lives in woodlands, forests, including secondary forests and plantations, to 1500 m.
