Identification
The species can grow to 12 cm in wingspan. Wings edged yellow, hindwings very slightly ragged. Coloration is blackish-brown with two large electric blue bands. Underside beige and grey with wavy lines. Body is robust but short.
Range and habitat
The species is found in Central and South America, from Mexico to Panama and Colombia, south to Amazonian Brazil and Bolivia. Lives in primary and secondary forests, from 500 to 1500 meters.

Status : The species status hasn’t been assessed yet. It has a huge range but could be dependant on forests and therefore vulnerable to deforestation.
