Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan around 7 cm. Dark ragged wing edges with white dots. Upperside coloration dark brown with inside of wings bright red and white spots on outside of wings. Underside brownish-red with two rows of white dots.
Range and habitat
The species is found on the Caribbean islands and in South America, from Guianas and Suriname to Paraguay, north Argentina, Uruguay and Bolivia. Lives in open woodlands, clearings, grasslands and gardens.

Status : The species hasn’t been assessed but it seems to be one of the commonest butterflies in the wild within its range.
