Identification
Colonies can reach a total length of more than 1 meter and can be several meters across. Skeleton composed of thin and fragile walls. Polyp mantle forming brown to greenish or creamy disks with distinct stripes when fully extended.
Range and habitat
The species lives in the Indo-Pacific area, from Andaman Sea to Philippines and south Japan, south to New Guinea and Solomon islands. Lives in shallow and sheltered reefs, often in turbid areas, down to 30 meters.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has a wide range but is globally rare. Locally intensively collected for the trade. Vulnerable to climate change and habitat loss.
