Identification
Colonies are flat to dome-shaped and can reach more than 2 meters across. Corallites have thick walls than often fuse together making the corallites less distinguishable. Coloration reddish to green, mottled brown or grey. Septa well visible.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in eastern Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, from Sri Lanka to south Japan and north Australia, east to New Caledonia. Lives in lower reef slopes, protected from waves, down to 40 m depth.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a large range but remains rare in the wild. Like most corals, it is vulnerable to climate change and pollution.
