Identification
Colonies usually consist of very few corallites but can become rounded when big. Corallites are very large and fleshy with warty mantle. Coloration is usually blue-grey to brown with light valleys. Corallites within a colony are similar.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific region, from East Africa to South Japan, Australia and Papua New Guinea. Lives in all kinds of reef environments, usually down to 30 meters deep.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is usually uncommon. Climatic changes leading to acidification and warming of water is a serious threat for stony corals in general.
