Identification
Colonies are usually hemispherical to flat. Corallites form sinuous valleys with corallite mouths usually found in two rows. Thick and fleshy walls. Coloration red, green or brown with contrasting valleys. Wall top often clearer.

Range and habitat
This species occurs from Red Sea and East Africa to Madagacar, east to Fiji, north to South Japan, south to Northern Australia. Lives in upper reef slopes, in exposed areas, down to 40 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is common. Climatic changes are leading to acidification and warming of water which are serious threats for stony corals.
