Identification
Colonies can grow up to 100 cm in diameter. Each polyps has large tubular tentacles from which derive many smaller tubular branches, each one ending in a pale knob-like tip. Tentacle coloration often translucent cream or green.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from the Andaman islands (maybe Maldives) to south Japan, north Australia and east to Fiji. Lives in shallow turbid water areas and reefs, to 35 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is widespread but globally uncommon. It is threatened by climate change, habitat destruction and overharvesting for the trade.
