Identification
Adults can reach up to 30 cm in diameter. Its bell is yellow to brown with pale streaks and spots. Often seen upside down, its tentacles are translucent violet with smaller white-tipped extensions protruding on sides of “arms”.
Range and habitat
The species occurs around the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to western Pacific Ocean. Introduced in Hawaii. Lives in shallow lagoons and intertidal areas with sandy or muddy bottoms, to 30 m.

Status : The species has the widest range of its genus and is very common. It has been introduced in Hawaii and colonized the Mediterranean sea.
