Identification
The species can grow to about 30 cm in length. Body is elongated and shows distinct segmentation. Coloration variable, from brown or grey to mottled or even bright green. Leaf-like appendages protruding from mouth.
Range and habitat
The species lives in the Indo-Pacific area, from east Africa to Indonesia, north to South Japan, south to North Australia, eastwards to Hawaii. Lives in all kinds of coral reefs and rocky reefs environments.

Status : The species is apparently quite common within its range. It may be harvested for food and for the trade but seems not to suffer from any threats.
