Identification
One of the largest of all mantis-shrimps, reaching a length of 40 cm. Elongated body with dark brown and yellow to greenish stripes. Raptorial appendages are spearing typed with small teeth. Big black eyes with white spots.
Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific region from East Africa to western Pacific Ocean, around Hawaii and Galapagos Islands. Occurs on muddy and sandy bottoms, also on sandy reef flats, to 10 m.

Status : The species isn’t abundant but remains locally fairly common throughout its large range. Targeted by small fishing activities but this isn’t a threat
