Identification
The species can grow to 10 cm in length. Laterally compressed body, slightly elongated rostrum. Back is yellow with two dark edges. Flanks are brown with dark-edged wavy clear horizontal lines. Umbrella-like appendages on claws.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South East Asia, in Sri Lanka and then from peninsular Malaysia to Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and Philippines. Lives in fast-flowing rivers and streams, mostly in upland areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range. It could be vulnerable to habitat loss or destruction. It is locally caught for subsistence but this isn’t a threat so far.
