Identification
The species can reach 20 cm in length. Claws and abdomen with long white hair-like extentions. Color orange with darker edges. Scattered white spots on abdomen. Cephalothorax with white circle and two white bands. Orange antennae.
Range and habitat
The species occurs patchily in the Indo-Pacific area, from Taiwan to Philippines, south to Indonesia and northern Australia, east to Marquesas Islands. Lives in rocky and coral reefs at depths from 80 to 120 meters, rarely above.

Status : The species’ status is unknown and even its taxonomic status remains debated. It could be threatened by habitat loss and overharvesting locally.
