Identification
Body length of 120 cm, shoulder height of 70 cm, weight to 35 kg. Head with thick frontal ridges and very long antlers base. Large antlers. Coloration orange-brown with black limbs, clear throat and thin black stripe on antlers’ base.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south Laos, south Vietnam and Cambodia. Species found from Pakistan and India to South China, south to South Thailand. Lives in all kinds of forests, including plantations and forest edges, to 3500 m.

Status : The species has a large range and is locally common. In many countries, its numbers have been reduced mostly because of unsustainable hunting.
