Identification
Body length of 110 cm, shoulder height of 55 cm, weight to 25 kg. Females are slightly larger than males. Long tail with fringes of white hairs, small antlers. Pelage dark brown to nearly black with conspicuous golden-yellow frontal tuft.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in east Asia and is endemic to the province of Zheijiang, in eastern China. Lives in mountain forests and scrublands with abundant undergrowth, to 1000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species lives in a small area and is vulnerable to loss and fragmentation of its habitat. Less than 8000 individuals are thought to remain.
