Identification
Body length of 340 cm, shoulder height of 200 cm, weight of 600 kg. Heavy body with large head and a single big hump on back. Coloration variable, usually sandy brown but goes from white to black. Scattered hairs on back and hump.

Range and habitat
No wild non-introduced populations exist today. Feral populations occur in north half of Africa, western Asia and Australia. Lives in deserts, sand plains and semi-arid bushlands.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The world’s population has decreased with some feral populations being progressively wiped-out. Still remains locally common to abundant.
