Identification
Body length of 165 cm, shoulder height of 118 cm, weight of 74 kg. Unmistakable. Big head with backwards-pointed ringed horns. This subspecies is globally white with rufous-brown tinge on back and neck. White spot on throat.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in North Africa, from south Algeria and Senegal to Sudan. This subspecies is found in Chad and Sudan. Lives in the sahel, in desert zones and dry mountain and grass steppes.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : This species was formerly widespread but now on the verge of extinction because of habitat loss and overhunting. Reintroduction program underway.
