Identification
Body length of 145 cm, shoulder-height of 85 cm, weight of 80 kg. Largest duiker species with small pointed horns and curved back. Coloration is dark velvety-brown with grey to white area on cheeks. Large yellow area on rump.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in West Africa, from Senegal to south-west Sudan, south to Angola, DR Congo and Zambia. Mostly found in primary and secondary forests, also woodlands, rarely savannas.

Status : This species is still considered safe but its range is more and more fragmented because of deforestation. Illegal hunting is also a problem.
